The 7th grade social studies class is now a United States history survey course covering the time period between 1800 - present. We would like to bring our textbook to life with community voices reading history (think Ken Burns).
The Heritage E-STEM Social Studies team (Craig Roble, Matt Huron and Harry Jennes) invite parents and community members to come into Heritage and record a reading of one or more chapter(s) from the volumes of a History of Us, by Joy Hakim.
These audio files would then be included in a class iBook that students could use on their iPads. With a wide range of student reading abilities, being able to listen and follow along in the text will increase comprehension and hopefully engagement.
